Description

Sashimi grade wild-caught Scampi caught from Western Australian deep waters. At 50-69g each, they are graded No.3, third largest size grade. These are popularly enjoyed raw in high end Japanese sushi restaurants around Australia.

Austfish was founded in 1987 by brothers Ian and Ross Boot, who continue to own and operate the
prawn trawling business together with skipper Hilton Bell. The company operates a fleet of 8 vessels of out Darwin (Northern Territory) with its head office in Fremantle (Western Australia) where the brothers grew up.

The Australian prawn fishing industry is well known for the quality of prawns produced which results in a large export market. The Australian climate and ocean conditions are ideal to produce large, quality prawns seasonally. Due to the popularity of Austfish’s prawns, some product is sold domestically however the majority of the yearly catches are exported.

As a Wholesaler, Austfish operates throughout the Northern Prawn Fishery which was the first tropical fishery to get MSC (Marine Stewardship Council) approval. https://www.msc.org/en-au The high level of involvement by the Fishery Departments in planning, reviewing and working with members of the industry ensures the Northern Prawn Fishery remains a sustainable fishery producing a constant supply of world class prawns.
