About Jack Tsai aka Uncle Tsai
Growing up in Canada as a Taiwanese immigrant, Jack was always excited to visit friends’ houses and explore their kitchens for snacks they didn’t have at home. Granola bars, ham and cheese sandwiches, and canned pasta were like treasures to him – delicious comfort foods he couldn’t get enough of.
However, at the same time, Jack felt self-conscious about the lunches his mom packed for him. He worried they might seem too “weird” to his friends and often wouldn’t eat them at school.
Thankfully, as Jack matured and worked as a chef in some of the best kitchens around the world, he began to embrace his cultural roots with pride and started incorporating more flavors from his upbringing into his menus.
Now, with over a decade of professional culinary experience, Jack is excited to share these flavors in an accessible and modern style, aiming to make them a new favorite in everyone’s pantry.
